dplr Built Outdoor LED Screen “Leaf Work” for Biennale of Sydney

Unilumin URMIII P4.81 Outdoor LED Screen

“Leaf Work” by John Gerrard is currently being displayed at the Stargazer Lawn at Barangaroo. The art work includes one side of 6x6M URMIII outdoor rental LED screen from Unilumin, built by dplr and supplied by PHANTOS.

This piece was originally commissioned by the Galway International Arts Festival for Galway 2020, European capital of Culture. It features a lone figure, draped in leaves, walking across an empty landscape. As they move, time passes and so do the seasons. The figure is shown to roam endlessly back and forth with their head down and shoulders slumped – as if in sorrow.
Presentation at the 23rd Biennale of Sydney was made possible by the generous assistance from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport and produced in collaboration with Phileas.

The installation of the artwork commissioned to dplr company, a Sydney based event company that specialises in live-streaming, production and technical management. They pay close attention to details ensuring to provide unique and unforgettable experiences for their clients. They are also in charge of the installment of ‘The Great Animal Orchestra’ by Bernie Krause & United Visual Artists.

For this installment, a 6X6m array of Unilumin URM III P4.81 panels controlled by a Novastar TB60 were used to display the figure walking in its environment. Rated IP65, the panel is protected against dirt and dust as well as capable of withstanding being left in the rain. Its PCB has also been treated for long term use in beach front properties making it more than suitable for its placement near the Sydney harbor. With a viewing angle of 160 degrees vertically and horizontally, onlookers will be able see a clear picture from a wide variety of angles.
